Blog Series: Intro to Statistics
An introductory discussion on basic statistics, focusing primarily on statistical inference.
I'm writing this series as a way to digest what I've learned from the Statistical Inference course offered by Johns Hopkins University as part of their Data Science Specialization on coursera.org. The aim of this blog is to help build some intuition and deepen my understanding of statistical concepts. I figure other stats students might find it helpful as well.
Fair warning: some of it may not be 100% accurate. I'm still learning as I go. On occasion I've omitted minor technical detail so as not to be distracted from the bigger picture. I tried to make notes about these omissions when necessary but I'm sure I missed a few along the way.
Special thanks to Brain Caffo, Jeff Leek, and Roger Peng from JHU who put the Specialization together. I recommend it to anyone looking for a relatively gentle introduction to data science.
